Overview
This sanctuary is home to a large number of Mona monkeys. Over 200 years, Mona monkeys in Tafi-Atome’s tropical forest were protected as messengers to gods. In 1996, village efforts increased the monkey population to 200, preserving the forest and bird species. The playful monkeys often interact with visitors and visitors can interact with these monkeys and even feed them bananas. Visit the visitor center for a tour and shop for village crafts. A guide leads you to the monkey sanctuary, where you can see daily activities, a pineapple farm, and kente weaving at Tafi Abuipe. Enjoy evening entertainment and monkeys are out during November-January foraging.
